Aspire adds to top management

Clive Whittingham from C21Media mentioned Revolt this week...
The Comcast-backed channel being set up by former basketball star Magic Johnson to target African-Americans has appointed a general manager.

Paul Butler will join Aspire when it launches in the US in June. He is currently senior VP and general counsel at GMC TV (previously Gospel Music Channel).

Prior to joining GMC in 2006, Butler was an executive at Viacom, holding various positions at music network VH1. He will oversee all programming operations at Aspire and report to Johnson, who is chairman of the channel and its board of directors.

Aspire is one of four Comcast-backed channels with celebrities at the helm being launched by GMC TV over the coming months. Rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has partnered with MTV veteran Andy Schuon to launch music channel Revolt, which will debut in 2013.

Aspire will air original and acquired movies, documentaries, short films, comedy and music and arts programming.

Schuon and Butler are Viacom alumni that are getting new channels from Comcast... I can't wait to see what they bring to my channel line up!

If all goes well I will be working for Mr. Combs and Andy Schuon when they launch Revolt! Check out my site RevoltVJ.com for how you can help me!
